I know what it’s like to feel uncomfortable in your own skin…
After my last competition IN 2016, I gained 30 lbs and weighed the most I ever had…
I kept yo-yo-ing between trying to diet during the week completely restricted and going crazy on the weekends, feeling like garbage, and starting again Monday
I knew something had to change.
I finally hired a coach.
I told him I wanted to be athletic and strong – so my training shifted from “bodybuilding” to PERFORMANCE.
From years of tracking, I could basically calculate an entire plate of food in my head at that point and be within 100 cals- I didn’t need to weigh and measure anymore.
I stopped trying to track and just started:
- eating consistently
- listening to my body knowing it needed FUEL for the training I was doing.
This was really the beginning of what has been the 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒅, 𝒎𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆 point in my journey of health.
Ignorance might be “bliss”, but knowledge is power.
This is why the EDUCATION behind the process is just as important to me as the results for clients.
I was certainly not the leanest, but I became the strongest I had ever been up to that point and it felt amazing!
Since I wasn’t competing, I was able to spend less time in the gym and I started doing more FUN workouts like rock climbing, silks, and mountain biking.
My body started to change in the way I wanted, in A WAY that I wanted.
My clothes started to fit.
I started feeling confident again.
I wasn’t having to obsess over food.
I spent less time stressing about what my body LOOKED like and more time being amazed at what it could DO.
This was a big mental transition for me not only for myself, but in how I coach my clients.
Recognizing when it’s time to take a step back and reassess what your goals are and WHY can be a huge game changer for overall health, adherence to a plan, and feelings of success on a journey.
If you’re unable to stick with what you’re trying to do, there’s a reason.
Is it unsustainable?
Do you know your why?
Does your plan reflect your reality?
Are you celebrating the wins that REALLY matter and not just a number on the scale?
Or does your plan leave you constantly disappointed in what you’re not achieving?
Food for thought…
