Chalk is literally just what it’s called. The same thing that rock climbers use before a climb and it can be a really great tool to help get rid of any extra moisture on the hands to secure your grip. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Most gyms have a bucket or a bowl of it somewhere around the lifting platforms.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you don’t have the grip strength to begin with it’s not going to provide any help with that, but it can help your hands stay put on the bar.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Other things that can help with grip is alternating your hand position. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One prone, one supine. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One palm forward, one palm facing you.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This puts opposing tension on the bar and helps keep it from slipping.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The last thing that can assist with grip are lifting straps. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

These are usually some form of a strap that goes first around your wrist then has extra material to wrap around the bar that you then hang on to. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This transfers some of the weight of the bar onto your wrists and requires you only to hold the strap in place on the bar (which the weight of the bar helps with) in order to keep it from coming out of your hands. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is usually my last recommendation when it comes to hanging on to the bar because while it does require some strength, it’s better to work your grip as much as you can before relying on them.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
