THERE IS NO SUCH THING.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Muscle is MUSCLE.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This kills me, you hear that yoga or pilates instructor saying their 12,989 pumps are going to build this “niiiice leeeaaan muscccleee”…staaahhhppp.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The ironic thing…is that they just have LESS muscle than say a cross fitter or body builder!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But that doesn’t sell well, so they don’t say that.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Come to pilates and build less muscle than weightlifting!”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
To be clear: there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to build muscle like a crossfitter or body builder. I just want you to understand the difference. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, there is a time and place for pilates/yoga / barre etc but it also DOES NOT provide the benefits for BONE DENSITY and pure STRENGTH that weight training does. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Also, not to just bash on pilates – the same goes for anyone telling you that only lifting 3lb weights for 400 reps will build you “lean muscle”. No…it likely won’t build you much muscle period, but you will build muscle ENDURANCE as opposed to STRENGTH. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I just wanted to clarify this for those who are still being tricked by the marketing verbiage of our sad fitness industry into thinking certain exercise will build certain “types” of muscle. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
