Well hello again! No matter where you are in your fitness journey – this is just the start of ours together and I’m so grateful you’re here. I want to share with you a little about me and the start to my fitness journey…
I grew up in a house that fast food was a staple at least 3-4 nights/week.
With a single mom who worked nightshifts as a nurse – I don’t blame her a bit.
“Healthy” was hamburger helper with a side of Mexican street corn (basically a salad) – and something I still love to this day though I recognize the irony. I “played” basketball and “ran” track in middle school, but was never that good and always just a little chunky.
In high school I decided wanted to PLAY soccer, so naturally I started running. I started eating the PLAIN Cheerios instead of honey nut and eating lean pockets instead of the regulars – we all start somewhere…
I played sports and ran my butt off through high school, as it was really the only thing I knew how to do to get in shape. I started cutting out workouts from SHAPE magazine and taping them to my closet door, I did tae-bo, pilates and hula workout videos my mom had during off seasons.
I got in pretty good shape. Good enough to get me into D2 College soccer. Good enough to get me into the weight room with a real strength coach who started my true love for lifting…
After college, I needed something to keep me motivated and Crossfit was calling my name, so I had fun with that for a while, as I trained out of a local gym.
But it wasn’t until I discovered Bodybuilding Competitions that I found a couple of new passions…Competing and proper nutrition. I had fumbled my way through up until now with nutrition, knowing that salads were “good” and ice cream was “bad” – but had ZERO understanding of how it fueled me.
I found a way to optimize my training, dial in my fat loss goals, manipulate my body in a way I had never been able to. And the rest is pretty much all documented on Instagram if you want to scroll back that far.
I ended up competing for 3 years regionally in Bikini and once in figure for fun before making it to National Stage where I placed 9th.
While this was really fun and extremely rewarding – it didn’t take long to realize that this kind of training, eating and competing is NOT SUSTAINABLE. I lost my cycle for 6 months post my last show, which was lucky – some lose it for more than a year. This brought me to a part of my life and my fitness journey that was looking for TRUE health.
I started studying hormones and not just macros but micronutrients to create true health, not just aesthetically but internally as well. At this time I also started working at a Chiropractic office as a Rehab Specialist for patients so my way of thinking and training shifted quite drastically during this time. I was learning not just how to get ripped, but be strong in a functional way and to work with people of every single level from some people who came in unable to walk from pain, people looking at surgery and watching them go through our programs and come out pain free.
I dabbled in obstacle races and grew a love for kickboxing, aerial silks and mountain biking which were both things that challenged me in such different ways than bodybuilding and I loved that too.
In 2018 I got pregnant and had to transition my mindset on training yet again. I took a Pre/Post Natal Certification course in order to learn how to train not only myself safely but also pregnant clients which is now a huge passion of mine. Maintaining your physical health throughout pregnancy is something that has been overlooked for so long and this newly emerging field is right up my alley!
I’ve since transitioned to solely my own online training and this last year in 2021 opened up a Womens training studio with a partner where I focus on 1-1 and small group personal training. This has given me the time to train for my first and 2nd Muay Thai Kickboxing Fight, which were amazing and I wish I had started sooner – just in time to get pregnant again with my 2nd!
The last 10 years have been a whirlwind of my own experience coupled with learning and growing with clients through their experiences to bring the best of both worlds into a full spectrum of wellness through my programming. It’s not JUST a training program, it’s not JUST a nutrition program. It’s education, it’s connection, it’s mental and physical WELLNESS on a different level and I hope to bring you a piece of that with all my free content.
Thanks for being here!
