I just have this spot that I want to get rid of. If this would just go away. Tighten this, tone that. Etc.
We’ve all said it, we’ve all heard it.
Or someone complements you, and you respond with oh yeah but I have [insert degrading body comment here]
Or are you complement someone and say I could never wear that my [insert degrading body comment here].
At this point, I think we all realize that cellulite, saggy skin, stretch marks stretch marks, [insert Any other feature photo shopped out of main stream media] are all normal parts of the human body.
So how do we normalize them in our heads despite the constant barrage of messaging toward us deeming them imperfect?
It seems simple, but my best advice?
Practice.
The next time you find yourself judging a part of your body in a negative way, reframe it mentally then out loud.
See some cellulite on your thighs?
Thank your legs for getting you out of bed today.
Then put some damn shorts on so your legs can BREATHE!
You’ll be cooler and the more you do it, the less uncomfortable you’ll be with it.
See more than you’d prefer on the back of your arms?
Thank them for picking your baby up 1 million times today.
Then wear the damn tank top.
Our bodies are ALL a work of ART and the fact that we live, breathe and function like we do is a downright miracle!
Take it from someone who has been as lean as they can be, there will always be something you can pick yourself apart for and if there’s not, the next magazine you pick up will find something for you to be self conscious about. [like hip dips?! That’s your ANATOMICAL STRUCTURE?!].
So stop wasting those precious time we have on earth worrying about people seeing things that 99%of other people have too!
Go get those shorts, go get that tank, go buy that dress, put a smile on your face and ROCK IT!!
What’s something you’ve been self conscious to wear but did it anyway? What’s something you WANT to wear but haven’t YET;) ??.
