Stop wasting time…⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every week a new gizmo or gadget comes out to monitor your steps, get your heart rate, tell you how many calories you burned etc. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The ironic thing that I’ve noticed is that most people who are the most worried about those gauges, still don’t have the basics down. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your efforts while valiant, are misguided.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
GO FOR THE LOW HANGING FRUIT FIRST!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While there may be some value in monitors for specific cardiovascular training, as a personal trainer and fitness enthusiast of over 16 years who has only owned one heart rate monitor (used it MAYBE 5 times -also, it was free) I can tell you that more often than not, you are wasting your money and energy being concerned about it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your magic step count won’t make you fit, your green or red zone on your watch doesn’t mean you got a good workout in, and when you’re not even in bed for 6-8 hrs/night anyway your sleep quality is irrelevant. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you need reminders, set alarms on your phone.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stack habits. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
– DRINK YOUR WATER then stand up and do 10 squats.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
– Every time you go to the bathroom take a 5 min walk break. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
– Create a bedtime routine to fall asleep faster and sleep better – STICK TO IT and get to bed at a reasonable hour. [GET OFF YOUR PHONE]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
– Stop stressing about calories or points and EAT YOUR FRUITS AND VEGETABLES! [6-8 servings/ day is ideal]. If you eat that much you won’t have room for anything else anyway.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These are small examples of things that can have a BIG impact on your overall health and they don’t require an expensive tracker. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let me know in the comments if you have a tracker, if so do you feel it has helped you create better habits? ⠀⠀
