Crunches aren’t the devil or anything, they’re just KIND of pointless when it comes to anything functional.
There should be a reason to exercise so I mean unless you just really LOVE doing crunches….you can stop now.
If you think of all other exercises, squats deadlifts, pushups, etc – they’re preparing you to be strong in movements that you do in your every day life. Sit-ups even might be better because at least you’re getting yourself UP.
At any rate, your core werk should include a variety of stabilizing in ALL DIRECTIONS.
Front, back, sides and rotationally.
This push-up twist specifically is an anti extension and anti-rotation movement. Yes I’m rotating, but the goal is for my hips and shoulders to move together as I transfer the weight into the air.
It’s also a HELL of a shoulder workout.
