Need more reasons to lift other than aesthetics?
𦴠BONE DENSITY!!
Did you know that as an older adult, when you break a bone, your risk of death is increased for up to 10 years?
When you break a bone, especially a leg or hip and are unable to continue normal activity much less other strenuous exercise – the degradation of the body [already proceeding at a rapid rate] is unable to be counteracted.
Quality of life as well as life expectancy greatly decreases.
Women specifically start LOSING bone density around age 35 which decreases faster as estrogen production decreases. So the sooner you can start PREVENTING the better!
â While bone density is largely genetic â we know that our environments and outside factors can override genetics so here are a couple of things you can do RIGHT NOW to help improve your bone density.
â
1ď¸âŁ RESISTANCE TRAINING & HIGH IMPACT EXERCISES. Shorter duration but higher intensity work will have the best effects. ie. Lift heavy shit, jump high, run fast.
â
2ď¸âŁ EAT YOUR PROTEIN. Getting adequate protein not only helps fuel the above activities, but can help maintain bone density.
â
Yep. Thats it.
Thereâs no time like the present! Get moving and save those bones:)
