Brooke: Welcome to the Fitness Simplified Podcast! I’m Brooke Davis alongside my co-coach Courtney Hoglen as a women’s fitness and nutrition specialist with B. Davis Training, and we’re here to simplify your fitness. This podcast is going to bring you health and fitness topics like fat loss, muscle building, and so much more in a science-backed, evidence-based conversation broken down into actionable steps. From training and nutrition to mental health and lifestyle wellness, we’re bringing you our coaching knowledge and experience along with conversations with other experts in the wellness industry.
Courtney: Courtney here! The most interesting thing about me is by far my toddler. He’s an energetic, blue-eyed boy that keeps me on my toes at all times. Most of my days are spent chasing him around and working, but beyond that, I enjoy reading, cooking, walks outside, and making corny jokes that people sometimes find funny, but I always find hilarious. I obviously love fitness, but what I love most about it is finding that thing you’re bad at or don’t think you can do. Whether it takes practice and hard work, or you discover a hidden talent within yourself, the feeling of accomplishing something that once seemed impossible is empowering.
Brooke: Brooke here. Who am I exactly? God, family, fitness, in that order. I’m a wife to my highschool sweetheart of 13 years and a mama to two beautiful babies currently aged three and nine months. My husband owns Promise Land Farm, an organic vegetable market farm which keeps him busy, but when we’re not working, we are likely adventuring. I love all things outdoors, including traveling the world, rafting, hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, and rock climbing. My indoor ventures are the gym (obviously), kickboxing, reading, singing, and playing guitar. Now, to why you’re really here: Fitness isn’t just my job. It’s my passion. For the last 12 years, I’ve trained women in person and online to create what is now B. Davis Training.
I started in a regular gym, training one-on-one and group classes. Then, I worked for three years as a chiropractic rehab specialist before transitioning online with my first pregnancy. I’ve since opened my own women’s training studio, where we run small group personal training. I’m certified obviously as a trainer, corrective exercise specialist, fitness nutritionist, functional range conditioning or mobility specialist, pre- and postnatal fitness, conditioning certified, and I’m currently working on becoming certified in functional diagnostic nutrition, which I am probably the most excited about.
My own fitness journey consists of playing collegiate soccer, competing in CrossFit, obstacle races, and bikini division bodybuilding for about five years, ending with a ninth place national win and some jacked up hormones. Since then, I’ve focused mainly on performance and have most recently started Muay Thai kickboxing with three fights and more to come. The end of my bodybuilding phase was when the realization of what this industry really is and what it can do hit me, and was a bit of a turning point in what I wanted to bring to it and my clients, which is why we’re here.
Our mission is to empower and inspire women to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives. We believe that a healthy lifestyle should enhance your life, not detract from it. We’re dedicated to providing education and resources that help you make informed decisions about your health and fitness so that you can feel confident in your body. The health and fitness industry has become one big marketing ploy to get you to buy the next best and fastest thing to get the results you want. We’re not here to sell you. We’re here to show you.
We’re here to show you that it’s not as complicated as they make it seem, but it might be a little harder than you want because there is no quick fix. There are simple things you can do to improve your health and wellness and to create a lifestyle and a body you’re proud of. We want to simplify wellness to bring sustainable changes in the midst of your busy world to meet you where you are. I hope you love what we have to share and find it useful and easy to apply in your own health and wellness journey.
Hey guys, so since the recording of some of these earlier episodes, we have evolved quite a bit and not only changed our name, but have vastly improved the services that we provide for women. So I wanted to update you all. I started this company 13 years ago, not really knowing what I wanted out of it, just knowing that I wanted to help people live healthier, stronger, longer lives. I wanted to give them support and direction that I know so many people don’t have when it comes to health and fitness. I wanted to combat the lies and deceit of a multi-billion dollar scamming industry that sells diets, teas, wraps, shakes, pills, and shots to people, mostly women, who are just desperate to feel better. Ultimately, that’s what I’ve done.
I’ve helped hundreds of women realize they don’t need another diet or extreme measures to be able to have the body, the health, the fitness level that they want to be able to live the lives that they want, right? To be able to play with their kids and grandkids, to feel sexy for their husbands and excel in their careers. That being said, I want so much more. I have multiple people on board at this point and plans for growth, so our name, B. Davis Training, really didn’t feel as cohesive as I would like it to. I want what we’ve built to be more collective, and it also doesn’t now encompass everything that we do here. With the growth not only of coaches, knowledge, and our newest addition of services, being able to run labs, testing, and diving so much deeper, were so much more than just training.
That’s why we have officially changed our name to Elysian Women’s Wellness. Elysian means relating to heaven or paradise, bliss. The Elysian field in Greek mythology was the paradise reserved for the heroes that were immortalized by the gods. And this is what I want our clients to feel like. This is what women deserve to feel like. We are here striving for optimal health and not settling for less. I have officially completed my year-long functional diagnostic nutrition training and am able to offer a wide range of functional testing as well as a much deeper dive into protocol for healing symptoms that often even your doctors can’t explain. If you’ve gone into your doctor with complaints that all they could do was give you a pill to mask the symptoms for, if you’ve taken labs and been told that they look normal but you don’t feel normal, if you’ve been completely dismissed by your doctor, we are here for you.
Much of our specialty lies within perimenopausal and menopausal women. A population that has really been pushed off to the side from the scientific community because it’s complicated to study, has a ton of variables, and frankly, hasn’t been deemed important enough. Unfortunately, more and more women find themselves experiencing the symptoms of menopause earlier than ever before for a wide variety of reasons. There are no tests to officially diagnose this, but the myriad of symptoms and irregular periods really gives us the best insight to this, and our functional labs can help dive even deeper into reducing, if not eliminating, symptoms and even reversing the cascade into full menopause.
We are so excited to have these resources and are so looking forward to bringing more information to you in further podcasts about functional lab testing, menopause, and overall health and women’s wellness. So, in later episodes, ignore the B. Davis training, know that we are now Elysian Women’s Wellness, and we will see you soon.
