CARDIO DOES NOT EQUAL FAT LOSS
This misconception HAS TO DIE.
If you’re “running for fat loss” you’re wasting time and muscle.
If you’re doing an hour of fasted cardio in every day to lose weight – STOP.
If you’re adding in jumping exercises between your lifts “to keep your heart rate up to lose fat” – you’re missing the mark.
I love that people are willing to put in the effort. But more often than not…you’re doing too much.
Cardio does 2 basic things:
1. utilizes glycogen stored in the body from food
2. Improves cardiovascular health
Notice “burning fat” is not on that list.
Doing cardio requires calories, yes – as does everything else you do, but not only is it actually less than a solid strength training session when you compare equal times, but once you BUILD the muscle, you’ll actually burn more calories AT REST.
Muscle is built in the gym.
Fat is lost in the KITCHEN.
(or by staying out of it)
Hah. No, if you’ve ever worked with me you know I’m usually telling my clients to eat more.
But in all reality, fat is lost through nutrition.
A caloric deficit to be exact.
You can’t outwork a bad diet, and you certainly can’t out run it.
So let’s dial in that nutrition shall we?
